Teen Wellness Program

For over 24 years, the Teen Wellness Program has worked in collaboration with various federal, state and local funders as well as local youth-serving agencies to promote healthy behavior among teens in our community. Local teens are hired and extensively trained by health services professionals to work as medical assistants in the clinics. Teen Wellness Providers run teen-only clinics: managing the front desk; performing lab procedures; and providing medical history review, risk assessment, counseling, referrals, and health education.  In addition, teen staff have the opportunity to work side-by-side with adult staff during all ages clinic hours.

Teen Clinic: A unique clinic environment is created during teen clinics to help patients feel more comfortable in a health care setting.  One example is the adult-free, teen-designed waiting room that has movies, music, snacks, games, and magazines. Patients are encouraged to come with friends and their partners to ask questions, get tested, access contraception and support each other.

*Teens are welcome during all clinic hours and need not utilize the teen-only hours.
